I am going to start giving myself weekly assignments, mainly just by keeping a list of words that then, I will pick a word and that will be my weekly word to get pictures about. My hope is to keep words that are open enough to interpretation that it will inspire me to different shots. I have been having a hard time coming up with things to take pictures of, so my hop is that this will jumpstart some inspiration. If you have any words you would like to leave as inspiration, leave them as a comment.

Jen, this sounds like fun and a good focus to try new things and learn better techniques. I noticed that Jenny (Sharon Daily Photo) has come up with suggestions from the CDPBloggers that are sort of along the lines of what you have in mind. For example, in the voting booth for monthly theme day topics I noticed "triangle," "water," "reflection," etc.
So, I think I will try to join you in your word a week assignments, and maybe post one of the results a week to my Seattle Daily Photo blog and see where it gets me.
